In the 2010 elections, JDU’s Razia Khatoon defeated RJD’s Manoj Yadav. Razia won by getting 41,163 votes, while Manoj Yadav got 25,761 votes. This victory by a margin of about 15,402 votes shows that the wave of JDU and Nitish Kumar was strong at that time.
How did BJP gain dominance in 2015?
In 2015, BJP candidate Sachindra Prasad Singh defeated Razia Khatoon (JDU). Sachindra polled 50,060 votes and won by a margin of about 11,488 votes. JDU got 38,572 votes while SP’s Manoj Yadav also got 26,430 votes. This election clearly shows that BJP had the advantage in the triangular contest.
Why did RJD change the game in 2020?
In the 2020 elections, the contest was direct between BJP and RJD. This time RJD’s Manoj Yadav made a strong comeback and secured 72,819 votes. BJP’s Sachindra Singh lost by a small margin with 71,626 votes. RJD got 45.35% votes and BJP 44.61% votes. That means the difference of less than 1% made this election exciting.
Note: Two criminal cases are registered against Manoj Kumar Yadav. He has movable and immovable assets worth about Rs 2 crore 18 lakh and has a loan of more than Rs 16 lakh.
How will the 2025 elections be?
In Kalyanpur seat, the caste equation, especially the votes of Kushwaha and Bhumihar castes, plays a decisive role. In 2025, it will be interesting to see whether RJD is able to maintain its hold or BJP makes a comeback.
