Lokah actress Kalyani Priyadarshan may be showcasing her fierce side on screen, but off screen, she has never shied away from expressing her emotions in real life. The actress recently reacted to her mother Lissy Priyadarshan’s return to acting and her reunion with director Priyadarshan which showed her emotional side. The project marks Lissy’s first collaboration with Priyadarshan since their 1988 classic Chithram, rekindling memories of the duo’s successful collaborations from the 1980s.
Kalyani Priyadarshan On Parents’ Reunion After 38 Years
The BTS pictures from the advertisement features Lissy alongside her daughter, marking the first time the mother and daughter have shared screen space in a project directed by Priyadarshan. Veteran actor Prabhu Ganesan also appears in the campaign. Kalyani also shared her excitement on social media, posting, “Here’s a day that’s got its own room in my memory palace,” in response to her parents’ reunion.

Announcing the project on Instagram, Lissy shared a series of photographs from the shoot and wrote, “It’s been 38 years since I last worked with Priyettan, and I’m overjoyed to be working with him again! Our last film together was the iconic ‘Chithram’. And the best part, I’m playing the reel mother to my real daughter Kalyani Priyadarshan in this ad film.”
About Lissy and Priyadarshan’s reunion
Lissy also mentioned on how comfortable she felt returning to the camera, crediting Priyadarshan for making the experience effortless. Recalling a light-hearted moment from the shoot, she said she was not nervous shooting, because Priyadarshan knew her ‘inside out’ and even understood her best facial angles. Overhearing the conversation, the filmmaker jokingly remarked, “I know her best and worst behaviours too!” Lissy added, “On set, it was pure nostalgia for me. I tried my best to hold back my tears of joy. The whole shoot felt like a picnic.”

She also thanked the brand for bringing her, Priyadarshan and Kalyani together for the project, adding that life had ‘come full circle’. She concluded by expressing gratitude to her fans for their continued love, prayers and support. Lissy is best known for her performances in films such as Chithram, Thalavattam, Odaruthammava Aalariyam, Mutharamkunnu P.O. and Boeing Boeing, all of which remain among the most memorable works of her career.
On the work front, Kalyani Priyadarshan is currently working on Marshal and Lokah: Chapter 2. She is also awaiting the release of Genie, Ravi Mohan big-budget made on Rs 100 crore which is yet to hit screens.
