Kalyan Sundareshwar Temple
Kalyana Sundareswarar Temple, located in Nallur village of Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu, is a center of faith for devotees. Devotees believe that the color of the Shivalinga worshiped in this temple changes five times a day. Changing the color of Shivalinga according to time is considered to be the main attraction of this temple. Devotees come to see it not only from Tamil Nadu but also from neighboring states. It is said that this temple is about a thousand years old and was built during the Chola period.
The Kalyana Sundareshwar Shivalinga located in this temple is said to turn into five different colors in a single day: black in the morning, white at noon, red in the evening, light blue at night and green at midnight. For this reason, it is believed that devotees who visit at any time can see the Shivalinga in different colours. For this reason, the number of devotees coming to the temple at different times of the day is increasing day by day.

Historical records show that this temple was built about a thousand years ago during the reign of the Chola emperor Rajaraja Chola. Despite several renovations over time, the spiritual traditions and rituals of the temple have been preserved unchanged. Here Lord Shiva is also revered by the name of Kalyan Sundeshwar. Apart from this, Lord Muruga also has special significance in this temple. For this reason, devotees of Lord Shiva and Muruga come to this temple for darshan.
There are two Shivalingas made of black stone.
There are two Shivalingas of black stone in this temple. The first Shivalinga is decorated with gold in the sanctum sanctorum and the second is located near the entrance of the temple. Sandalwood paste is applied every morning on the Shivalinga located at the entrance of the temple. The aroma of sandalwood welcomes the devotees in the afternoon.
The temple is worshiped 5 times
Worship is done five times daily in this temple. It is believed that during every Kaal Puja, Lord Shiva appears in different forms. Devotees say that Lord Shiva appears in the form of Vaidyanath along with Nandi in the morning. No scientific explanation has been given yet for the change in color of Shivalinga. Devotees believe that this transformation occurs naturally, without any human effort. This further increases the spiritual grandeur of the temple.
