According to the legend, once there was a dispute between Lord Shri Hari Vishnu and Brahma Ji regarding superiority. This dispute increased so much that Lord Bholenath had to organize a meeting to find a solution. All the sages, sages and wise people attended this. A decision was taken in the meeting, which was accepted by Lord Vishnu, but Lord Brahma was not satisfied with that decision and started insulting Lord Shiva.
Lord Shiva could not bear his insult. After being insulted by Lord Brahma, Lord Bholenath assumed a fierce form. Seeing his fierce form, fear spread across all three worlds. Kaal Bhairav Dev appeared in this fierce form of Lord Shiva. He was riding a dog. He had a punishment in his hand. For this reason he was called Dandadhipati. His appearance was very fierce. Kaal Bhairav Dev cut off the fifth head of Lord Brahma.
At that time Brahma Dev realized his mistake. After this the dispute between Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu ended. He acquired knowledge. His pride was destroyed.
