Kalashtami 2025 Date: Kalashtami fast has been given special importance in Sanatan Dharma. This day is dedicated to Kaal Bhairav, the fierce form of Lord Shiva. Kalashtami is celebrated every month on the Ashtami date of Krishna Paksha. It is believed that by observing fast on this day and worshiping Kaal Bhairav as per the rituals, the devotees get freedom from all kinds of fears, troubles and negative energy, and also get the blessings of Lord Shiva. Considering the importance of Udaya Tithi and the primacy of Ashtami Tithi for worship in Nishitha Kaal (midnight), the last Kalashtami of the year 2025 will be celebrated on Thursday, 11 December 2025. On this day, a fast will be observed and Lord Kaal Bhairav will be worshipped.
Auspicious time of Kalashtami Puja
Night time is considered the best time to worship Kaal Bhairav on the day of Kalashtami. However, you can perform the puja during the day also during auspicious time:

Method of Kalashtami Puja
On the day of Kalashtami, wake up early in the morning, take bath and wear clean clothes. After this take a pledge to fast. Install the idol or picture of Lord Shiva, Mother Parvati and Kaal Bhairav at the place of worship. Worshiping Kaal Bhairav at night is considered best. Offer flowers, virgin coconut, vermillion, oil lamp, incense, naivedya (like Imarti, Gulgula) and especially black sesame seeds to the Lord on Kalashtami. To please Lord Kaal Bhairav, chant his mantras. Reciting Bhairav Ashtak is considered very auspicious. At the end of the puja, perform aarti of Lord Kaal Bhairav and pray to him to forgive your mistakes and remove your troubles.
Religious importance of Kalashtami
Kaal Bhairav is considered a ‘judicial magistrate’. By worshiping him, all the troubles, diseases, fear of enemies and negative powers of life go away. According to astrological beliefs, this day is very special for those people who have Kaalsarp Dosh, Pitrudosh, or any problem related to the planet Saturn in their horoscope. Lighting a mustard oil lamp and reciting Bhairav Ashtak on this day removes negative energy from home and mind.

Special remedies for Kalashtami
Lemon Remedy: To reduce Kaal Sarp Dosh and bad effects of planets, offer lemon in Kaal Bhairav temple.
Mustard oil lamp: Light a mustard oil lamp in front of Kaal Bhairav at night.
Black dog food: Black dog is considered to be the vehicle of Kaal Bhairav. Kaal Bhairav gets pleased quickly by feeding him roti, milk or sweets on this day.
