Kajol felt left out on ‘Ishq’ set; reveals Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla were ‘close’: ‘I was not willing to talk to anybody’

‘Ishq’, the 1997 comedy directed by Indra Kumar, was a big hit at the box office. With Aamir Khan, Juhi Chawla, Kajol and Ajay Devgn in lead roles, the film became popular for its humour and songs. But recently, Kajol revealed that her time on set wasn’t as fun as it looked on screen.

In an interview with The Mashable, Kajol spoke about feeling alone during the long shooting days, as Aamir and Juhi shared a close bond with director Indra Kumar. This left Kajol and Ajay on the outside, and at times, she felt completely by herself.

“Aamir was very friendly with the director and so was Juhi so these three were a close knit group and then there was Ajay and me. And eventually, it was just me. There were certain days on set when I was not willing to talk to anybody,” said Kajol.

300 days on set was too much
Kajol also revealed that ‘Ishq’ took 300 days to be completed. The long schedule and daily shooting hours made things even more difficult for her. “We spent 300 days together. That film took 300 days to be made. We have no idea what we did for so many days. We used to spend 8-10 hours on set every day. I can’t be talking to all of them at all times. I can try to be social but I can’t constantly be chatting,” she explained. Even though Kajol is known to be outgoing, she said even extroverts need some quiet time to recharge.
