Kajal Aggarwal has weighed in on the ongoing debate surrounding the portrayal of actresses in commercial cinema, particularly in Telugu films.
Sharing her perspective, she said she has always received meaningful roles and respectful treatment throughout her career in Tollywood.
The actress noted that, compared to Bollywood, she enjoyed a longer and more successful journey in Telugu cinema.
She also built a strong career in Tamil films, but emphasised that the South Indian film industry consistently offered her opportunities and support.
Even after embracing motherhood, Kajal continues to land significant projects in Telugu cinema. She will next be seen opposite Balakrishna in NBK111, directed by Gopichand Malineni.
Praising the South Indian film industry, Kajal stated that she was never portrayed in an obscene manner, even when playing glamorous characters.
According to her, filmmakers largely maintained a balance between glamour and dignity in the roles she performed.
However, she pointed out that one area still needs improvement: pay parity.
Kajal said female actors deserve better remuneration and that the industry must work towards reducing the wide pay gap between actresses and male stars.
