New Delhi: The annual Kailash Mansarovar Yatra will be held from June to August this year, as per the Ministry of External Affairs’ announcement on Thursday. The Ministry added that the applications for the same can be submitted by May 19, 2026. The yatra will be organised via two routes, Lipulekh Pass in Uttarakhand and Nathu La in Sikkim, as per the official announcement.
According to the MEA, a total of 20 batches have been planned for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, with each of the 10 initial batches accommodating 50 pilgrims. The ministry also confirmed that the pilgrimage will be conducted in coordination with the Chinese authorities.
Kailash Mansarovar Yatra registration details
The ministry, on its official website kmy.gov.in, stated that applications have been opened for online registration. The complete registration and selection process has been made fully digital, with applicants required to register and submit forms online. The MEA also emphasised that applicants need not fax or send physical letters for registration; all communication will be handled digitally through the website only.
The release stated that pilgrims will be chosen through a “fair, computer-generated, random, and gender-balanced selection process.” Applicants can either opt for both routes by indicating a preferred priority or select a single route based on their choice.
The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra restarted last year after being suspended for more than five years—initially because of the COVID-19 pandemic and later due to the India–China border tensions.

For an 11-day trip from Kathmandu to Kathmandu via helicopter, the cost will be Rs 3,45,000 for all Indian passport holders, and for non-Indian passport holders, a proper visa is required, with a $4,170 cost for the yatra.
