On going to him, he came to know that today Lord Vishnu’s vehicle will take his son and eat him. The king then assured the woman that he would be the food of Garuda instead of her son. When he appeared in place of the woman’s son, Garuda was pleased with the king’s charity and blessed him to go to Vaikunth and revive the rest of the children. It is believed that since then women started fasting and worshiping the Jemutavahana deity on this day for the safety and good fortune of their children.
