Hearing this, Lord Shiva became angry and from the same anger, a tremendous light appeared from his third eye and from the same light, Lord Kalbhairav was incarnated.
Lord Kalabhairava was born to end the ego of Lord Brahma and establish balance in the universe. It is said that when Lord Brahma crossed the limit in his anger, Kalbhairav severed one of his five heads with his trident. This incident was not just a punishment, but it became a symbol of the victory of humility over ego. Lord Kalbhairav, protector of Kashi
It is mentioned in Shivpuran that when Lord Shiva declared Kashi as the land of salvation, he entrusted the responsibility of its protection to Kalbhairav Dev. Since then he is considered the Kotwal and protector deity of Kashi. It is believed that unless a devotee has darshan of Lord Kalbhairav, his journey to Kashi is considered incomplete.
