UPDATE: Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert returned to Sunday’s Week 13 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders at SoFi Stadium after leaving the game with a left-hand injury in the first quarter.
Herbert came back early in the second quarter, around the 12-minute mark. He was seen wearing a large padded glove on his left hand with his ring and middle fingers taped together. He tested his grip with practice snaps on the sideline before re-entering the game. Herbert completed a key 10-yard pass to Keenan Allen on 3rd-and-10.
At halftime, with the Chargers leading 10-7, Herbert remained in the game and appeared to move normally, though the glove limited his mobility on scrambles. No additional updates on the injury’s severity were available.

What happened?
The injury occurred on a 1-yard scramble when he was hit by Raiders safety Jeremy Chinn, slamming his non-throwing hand to the ground. At the time, Herbert had just led the Chargers to a 7-0 lead with a 5-yard touchdown pass to Quentin Johnston (5/5 for 39 yards).
Herbert was seen jogging to the locker room with trainers for further evaluation and is officially listed as questionable to return. With Herbert sidelined, backup quarterback Trey Lance entered the game.
