He completed his Masters in Law from Kurukshetra University in 2011 and that too with First Class. Surya Kant has also been the Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court. Apart from this, he also gave many memorable decisions in the Punjab-Haryana High Court.

Justice Surya Kant’s father Madanlal Shastri was a Sanskrit teacher and a famous astrologer. Mother Shanti Devi was virtuous. Justice Surya Kant said that his brother is also a reputed teacher.
