JSW Motors is preparing to enter India’s passenger vehicle market as an independent carmaker, separate from the JSW MG Motor India joint venture. Ahead of the planned launch of its first vehicle before Diwali 2026, the company has filed trademarks for seven new names.
The names are JSW Combat, JSW Urbanique, JSW Dominor, JSW Adventura, JSW Eleve, JSW Sereno and JSW Cadet. These could be used for upcoming cars, variants or vehicle-related services. However, trademark applications do not necessarily guarantee that every name will reach production.

JSW Combat, Adventura could suit rugged SUVs
Some of the new names provide clues about the positioning JSW Motors may be considering. Combat and Adventura have rugged connotations and could be suitable for lifestyle-oriented SUVs.
JSW has partnered with Chinese automaker Chery to access and localise its products for India. One of the first vehicles expected from this partnership is an . Sold internationally with a boxy design and an off-road-inspired character, this model could potentially use either the Combat or Adventura name in India.

The Jetour T2-based model is expected to feature a plug-in hybrid powertrain. It has already been spotted testing on Indian roads and is widely expected to become JSW Motors’ first launch.
Urbanique, Elevè and Sereno
Urbanique appears suitable for an urban-focused model, potentially a compact electric SUV. JSW has also been testing vehicles such as the Chery iCar V23 and Jaecoo J5 in India over recent months.

The iCar V23 is a compact electric lifestyle SUV with upright proportions, while the Jaecoo J5 has a more conventional crossover design. Either could form part of JSW Motors’ future electric vehicle portfolio.
Elevè carries a more premium character and may be intended for an upmarket model or trim level. Sereno suggests comfort and refinement, whereas Cadet could potentially be used for a smaller, more accessible offering. Dominor has a stronger performance-oriented identity, although the intended application remains unknown.

First JSW Motors launch before Diwali 2026
JSW Motors is expected to focus primarily on new-energy vehicles, including electric, plug-in hybrid and range-extended models. The Chery partnership will allow the company to access existing platforms and technology while adapting the products for Indian requirements.
Initial vehicles could arrive as CBU or CKD, with localisation expected to increase progressively. A separate sales and service network is also being established for the new JSW Motors brand. The company has not officially linked any of the seven trademarked names to a specific vehicle. More clarity should emerge closer to the brand and product debut before Diwali 2026.
