JSW Motors teases Jetour T2’s arrival in India

New Delhi: For a while now, JSW has been in the news for partnering with Chery to bring the Jetour T2 SUV to India around Diwali 2026. The brand has now given an official teaser of the upcoming plug-in hybrid (PHEV) model for the first time in their advertisement, recruiting new dealer partners. The new SUV, which will be JSW Motors’ first car from its portfolio, will be assembled at their upcoming Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar plant in Maharashtra.

The image is a silhouette of the front profile of the upcoming JSW Motors SUV, with horizontal LED headlight strips within a circular housing and pixel-shaped LED fog lamps glowing at the front. Along with that, the upright bonnet and those protruding bumpers are identical to those of the Jetour T2. The ORVMs look a little smaller, though, and the Indian-spec is going to get the JSW badge instead of ‘Jetour’ lettering.

While the international-spec has both PHEV and all-electric powertrains for Jetour T2, the Indian-spec model is likely to come only as a hybrid setup. The PHEV version comes with a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine making 154bhp and 220 Nm of torque and is paired with a 26.7 kWh battery pack.

It comes with a single-motor FWD configuration or a dual-motor AWD layout. The battery pack comes with an NEDC-certified all-electric range of 139 km.

Features in international-spec include a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, and have the usual features like panoramic sunroof, a 12-speaker Sony sound system, a wireless phone charger for the front passengers, powered and ventilated front seats and automatic climate control. Its safety suite comprises a 360-degree camera, Level 2 ADAS, and hill-start and hill-descent assists. All this is likely to come with the India-spec car as well.

JSW is planning to have the Jetour T2-based SUV debut by Diwali of 2026, though the manufacturer is facing slow approvals for importing components from China, which might delay the model’s India launch. JSW group chairman, Sajjan Jindal, has said that he hopes to have a competitive pricing between Rs 15 lakh to 30 lakh and compete with the likes of Tata Safari and Mahindra XUV 7XO.
