He praised Rohit’s extensive experience in high-stakes tournaments and highlighted Kohli’s relentless drive, dubbing him the ‘ultimate finisher’. Rhodes remarked on Rohit Sharma’s significance, stating that during World Cups, physical fitness and talent are crucial, but the experience of handling the pressures of such tournaments is equally important, making Rohit an invaluable asset. He noted, “Experience at a World Cup is a factor often overlooked. We focus on players’ talent and past performances, but when it comes to high-pressure moments, the World Cup is incredibly intense.”
He continued, “While players can manage their physical condition, mental resilience is often neglected in selection discussions. Having participated in four World Cups without advancing past the semi-finals, I understand the stress involved. Thus, having Rohit Sharma in the squad is a tremendous advantage during a World Cup.”
Rohit has participated in three World Cups from 2015 to 2023, consistently excelling. He was the leading run-scorer in the 2019 tournament in the UK, amassing 648 runs in nine matches, including five centuries and one fifty. Overall, he ranks as the fourth-highest run-scorer in World Cup history, with 1,575 runs in 28 innings at an impressive average of 60.57, featuring seven centuries (the most by any player) and six fifties.

Rhodes added, “As a leader and captain, being the best chaser globally demonstrates his determination to lead the team to victory. His consistent ability to chase down scores makes him India’s ultimate finisher.”
Kohli thrives on competition and is deeply committed to winning for India, regardless of his captaincy status. He is the second-highest run-scorer in World Cup history, with 1,795 runs in 37 matches at an average of 59.83, including five centuries and 12 fifties.
In ODIs, Kohli has accumulated 14,941 runs in 314 matches at an average of 58.59, with 54 centuries and 79 fifties. His record in successful run-chases is particularly impressive, with 6,235 runs in 111 matches at an average of 89.07, including 24 centuries and 29 fifties.
This year, Kohli has scored 384 runs in six innings at an average of 64.00 and a strike rate exceeding 106, featuring one century and three fifties.
