However, former England cricketer Jonathan Trott made headlines by suggesting that Kohli should reconsider his Test retirement and return to the team.
Trott noted that Kohli’s recent social media posts reveal how much he misses the team’s dressing room atmosphere. Speaking to broadcasters, Trott expressed his wish for Kohli to withdraw his retirement, saying it would add more value to Test cricket. When asked about Gill confirming his position at No. 4, Trott said Kohli could easily slot in at No. 3 or No. 5 without issue.
