In Agra, Police Commissioner Deepak Kumar has suspended two constables in bribery case. Action was taken after the allegation of taking bribe from a shoe trader was proved. Investigation has also been ordered against 9 other policemen.

Police Commissioner Deepak Kumar’s action against corruption in Agra, Uttar Pradesh has created a stir in the entire department. The Police Commissionerate has suspended two constables attached to the ACP Kotwali office with immediate effect on charges of bribery. Both of them have a serious allegation of taking four pairs of branded shoes as bribe from a shoe trader.

Businessman lodged complaint with CCTV footage

According to the information, the shoe businessman had handed over the CCTV footage and recording of demanding and taking bribe against these constables to the Police Commissionerate. As soon as the complaint was confirmed, higher officials immediately conducted an investigation and both the constables were suspended after being found guilty.

9 other policemen are also under investigation

After this action the matter has become even bigger. The Police Commissioner has also ordered investigation into 9 other policemen. Serious allegations have been made against them like illegal extortion, giving protection to gamblers and demanding money in the name of bail. All cases will be thoroughly investigated and strict action will be taken if found guilty.

Police Commissioner gave strict warning

Police Commissioner Deepak Kumar said the action was a result of complaints received on the anti-corruption helpline. He clearly said that Agra Police is working on the policy of “zero tolerance”. Bribery or illegal extortion will not be tolerated at any level.

Appeal made to the public

The Commissioner appealed to the citizens to immediately lodge a complaint on the helpline number 7839860813 if any policeman asks for bribe or there is any corruption. He said that transparency and public trust are the biggest strengths of the police.
