Jitia fast is mainly performed in some places in Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and Nepal. This is the second main festival celebrated after Chhath Puja in Bihar. Jitiya Vrat is considered one of the most difficult fasts, because women fast in it. This fast is celebrated on the Saptami, Ashtami and Navami dates of Krishna Paksha of Ashwin month. In this fast lasting three days, traditions from Nahay-Khay to Wroit Fasting and Parana are played by law.
When is Jitiya fast in 2025?
This year, Jitiya fast will start in 2025 with Nahai-Khay on 13 September. After this, on September 14, women will observe the Jeevaputrika fast with full law and the next day on September 15, the fast will be done by passing the Jitiya fast.
Importance of Jitiya fast
According to religious beliefs, by observing Jitiya fast, the child gets the blessings of long life and protects Lord Krishna child. Jitiya Vrat is also described in the Bhavishya Purana, which is considered very important for the attainment of children and its welfare.
