The monsoon has once again become active across Jharkhand, with several districts witnessing intermittent rainfall almost every day since the beginning of August.
Dhanbad, Bokaro, Giridih, Jamtara, and several districts have been receiving frequent showers. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), an orange alert has been issued, with heavy rainfall likely in several districts today.
Cloudy skies with light to moderate rain are expected in Ranchi, Khunti, Gumla, Lohardaga, Ramgarh, Hazaribagh, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Giridih, East Singhbhum, Saraikela-Kharsawan, West Singhbhum, and Simdega.
The maximum temperature is likely to remain around 32 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature may stay between 24 and 25 degrees Celsius. Heavy rainfall is expected in 13 districts, including Ranchi, Dhanbad, and Giridih. Some areas may also experience thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds of 30-40 km per hour.
Low-Pressure System to Keep Rainfall Active
According to the Meteorological Department, a low-pressure system extending from Jharkhand through northern Odisha and northeastern Madhya Pradesh to Chhattisgarh is influencing the weather over the state.
A cyclonic circulation is likely to develop over the Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas from Tuesday. It may intensify into a low-pressure area around August 13, potentially increasing rainfall activity across Jharkhand.
Rain is likely to continue through August 15. During this period, some areas could receive heavy showers accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and winds reaching 40-50 km per hour.
Jharkhand is among the states expected to experience continued rainfall activity from August 9 to 15, with the possibility of locally heavy rain in some areas.
91.2 mm Rainfall Recorded in First Nine Days of August
Jharkhand has received 515.7 mm of rainfall since the start of the monsoon season on June 1. The state recorded 74.1 mm in June and 350.4 mm in July.
In the first nine days of August, Jharkhand has already received 91.2 mm of rain. With 22 days remaining in the month, rainfall activity is expected to continue, and the state could record above-normal rainfall in August.
