The case of a girl missing for 9 months in Jharkhand was resolved within 24 hours of the High Court’s rebuke. The girl was murdered by her lover and now her skeleton has been found. Due to this negligence, 28 policemen of the entire police station have been suspended.
Ranchi: The entire staff of Pindrajora police station in Jharkhand, i.e. 28 policemen, has been suspended together. The reason is deliberate negligence in the case of a missing girl. The case which the police could not solve for 9 months was solved in just 24 hours after rebuke from Jharkhand High Court. What happened was that on July 24, 2023, a woman named Rekha Devi had filed a missing complaint of her 18-year-old daughter Pushpa Mahato at Pindrajora police station. But the police did not take any special action in this matter for nine months. When the family became completely upset, they approached the Jharkhand High Court for justice.
Strictness of High Court and ‘one day’ action of police
During the hearing of the case, the High Court expressed strong displeasure over the lax attitude of the police. The court summoned all the senior officials, from the DGP to the SP of the district. The police lost their sleep as soon as they received the deadline from the High Court. The investigation started immediately and within just a day, the police not only found the girl’s skeleton but also arrested her killer lover.
SP opened police’s raw diary
Bokaro SP told shocking things related to this case in a press conference on Saturday night. He revealed that the policemen of the police station had taken money from the accused and also had parties with them. Instead of helping the victim’s family, the police was trying to save the accused. The image of the police department was tarnished by leaking information related to the investigation. Due to these serious allegations, a decision was taken to suspend the entire police station.
The horrifying story behind the murder
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) arrested a person named Dinesh Kumar Mahato on the basis of technical evidence and mobile call records (CDR). What he told during interrogation was surprising. Dinesh and Pushpa were in a relationship for the last 3 years. Pushpa was pressurizing him for marriage, so Dinesh wanted to get rid of her.
On July 21, 2023, Pushpa went to Chas College for admission. Dinesh also reached there. On the pretext of talking, he took Pushpa to a secluded bushy area about 1.5 kilometers away behind the college and killed her by stabbing her. After this he left the dead body there and ran away. Now after 9 months, only her skeleton has been found in place of Pushpa’s body. If the High Court had not intervened in this matter, perhaps this secret would never have been revealed.
