The clip first spread in August 2025, when fans saw the insect move up Lopez’s black outfit and onto her neck mid-performance. At the time, she smiled, removed it and told the crowd, “It was tickling me.”
Months later, the podcast version gave the viral clip a better setup: Lopez had already seen small bugs around the venue that night, but she did not realize why the audience was suddenly screaming until the cricket was on her.
The Cricket Appeared During a Quiet Song
Lopez told via SmartLess that the incident happened during one of the slower, more dramatic parts of the show. Instead of moving through choreography, she was standing under a spotlight and singing in Spanish when the audience reaction changed.
She initially thought the crowd was responding to the song. Then she realized the screams were about the cricket crawling up her neck, and she had to decide whether to break the performance or get through the line first.
