Jemimah Rodrigues has been ruled out of the Asia Cup and Asian Games with a hamstring injury. The Indian batter sustained the injury on August 3 during The Hundred 2026, where she was a part of the Southern Brave.
It sidelined her for the remainder of the competition, with doubts looming over her participation in the marquee continental tournaments. And, the Indian team’s worst fears came true as the BCCI announced that the 25-year-old wouldn’t be able to participate in the upcoming events.
Rodrigues underwent a clinical assessment by the BCCI Medical Team at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, which confirmed the severity of the injury. On Friday, the BCCI announced, “Jemimah Rodrigues sustained a right hamstring injury on 3rd August while playing in The Hundred in England. The BCCI Medical Team clinically assessed her at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, and the assessment confirmed a high-grade tear. Consequently, she has been ruled out of the upcoming ACC Women’s Asia Cup in the UAE and the Asian Games in Japan.”
Notably, the Women’s Asia Cup will run from August 28 to September 5, 2026 in the UAE, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. On the other hand, the 20th Asian Games will take place from September 19 to October 4, 2026 in in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
Pratika Rawal Replaces Injured Jemimah Rodrigues in Asia Cup
The Women’s Selection Committe announced that Pratika Rawal will replace injured Rodrigues in the upcoming Asia Cup in UAE. Rawal is yet to make her T20I debut, and this comes as a crucial opportunity for the 25-year-old to announce her arrival in the format. Rawal is known for her swift pace and consolidate good starts. In the 2025 ODI World Cup, she scored 308 runs, but her campaign was cut short with a severe knee and ankle injury.
She made her comeback to international cricket during February 2026 multi-format series against Australia.
