New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) will commence the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2026 session 1 from today, January 21. JEE Main will be held as a computer-based test in two shifts. The morning starts at 9 am and concludes by 12 noon, and the afternoon session begins at 3 pm and will get over by 6 PM.
The JEE Mains 2026 admit card and a valid identity proof are required for candidates to attempt the paper. The session 1 exams is scheduled to be held on January 21, 22, 23, and 24 in two shifts.
Candidates who qualify the JEE Mains 2026 exam will be eligible to appear for the JEE Advanced.

JEE Main 2026 exam day do’s
- Carry a clear printout of the JEE Main admit card.
- A government-approved photo identity such as Aadhaar card, passport, voter ID, PAN card or driving licence is also mandatory for candidates to have for verification.
- Candidates must carry at least two passport-size photographs, preferably the one uploaded in the JEE Main application form.
- Candidates who have received an email from NTA must have the photo verification certification.
JEE Main 2026 exam centre don’ts
- Mobile phones, smart watches, calculators, Bluetooth devices, earphones, or any electronic gadgets must be strictly prohibited.
- Any form of paper, notes and similar items is not allowed.
- Candidates should avoid wearing any kind of rings, bracelets, chains or metal accessories.
JEE Mains 2026 dress code for females
- Female candidates should not wear any kind of dupatta or scarf.
- Students should not wear any kind of jewellery or ornaments.
- Any kind of metallic items should not be in the dress.
- Candidates must wear light and comfortable clothes
- Goggles, rings, bracelets or any such items are not allowed.
Dress code for male
- The outfit should not have large buttons.
- Shoes with thick soles are not allowed
- Candidates must not wear clothes with metallic items as it can cause problems during frisking.
- Students are not allowed to wear a cap, muffler or any kind of cloth over the head.
- Lightweight, comfortable clothes should be preferred.
