Hyderabad: Former students of Valerian Grammar School, Bolarum, will conduct the 13th Jaya Rao Memorial Inter-Schools, Academies and Clubs Football Tournament for boys in the Under-16 age group from September 1 to 6.
The tournament is being held in memory of Jaya Rao, a former physical education teacher at the school who mentored many national-level and two international players.
Former India captain Amal Raj and Dr Venugopal, a senior coach with the Sports Authority of India, were also from the same school.
The tournament will be conducted on a league-cum-knockout basis. It will be an XI-a-side tournament, and players born on or after January 1, 2011, are eligible to participate.
