Jatadhara vs The Girlfriend box office collection day 1: Sudheer Babu or Rashmika Mandanna; Which film is dominating theatres

This Friday, two big Telugu movies, ‘Jatadhara’ and ‘The Girlfriend’, clashed in theatres. Both movies have completely different genres, but they promise an entertaining premise.

‘Jatadhara’ stars Sudheer Babu with Sonakshi Sinha in her Telugu debut. ‘The Girlfriend’ features Rashmika Mandanna after her grand success with ‘Thamma’.

According to the website Sacnilk, Jatadhara opened to low numbers and only earned Rs 90 lakh on day 1. Meanwhile, The Girlfriend also had a low opening but collected more than Jatadharam. The movie earned Rs 1.30 crore in total.

‘Jatadhara’ also stars Divya Khosla Kumar, Shilpa Shirodkar, Indira Krishnan, Ravi Prakash, Jhansi and Rajeev Kanakala in the pivotal roles.

The movie focuses on Shiva, a man born from sacrifice, who becomes entangled in a web of ancient secrets and supernatural forces. He unravels truths hidden beneath the temple’s sealed vaults and gets caught up in a cosmic battle between divinity and greed. Sonakshi Sinha plays the role of Dhanapisachini, the Goddess of Greed.

 

 

Talking about The Girlfriend, the movie also stars Anu Emmanuel and Dheekshith Shetty in pivotal roles. Rashmika is seen in the role of a naive college student whose life changes for the worse after she gets into a relationship with a fellow student.

Director Ravi Chandran talked about if there is any similarity between Arjun Reddy and The Girlfriend. He told NDTV, “Arjun Reddy is a cult film which was a game breaker in cinema and it’s a much bigger film. My film is not close to it and honestly, this so-called similarity struck me only after the people on social media pointed it out. I actually thought of the story much before Arjun Reddy came about.”

 

 

The movie is directed by Rahul Ravindran. Its cinematography is handled by Krishnan Vasant with production design by S Rama Krishna and Monika Nigotre.
