India are currently taking on England in the final Test of the five-match series at the iconic Oval Cricket Ground in London. This is a must-win game for India as they are 1-2 down in the series, and a loss or draw means that they would lose the series as well.
In this match, India are without Jasprit Bumrah. The star fast bowler had declared that he would play only three games due to workload management issues. Bumrah has now been released from the squad, as he has gone back home. Mohammed Siraj had an emotional farewell for his trusted bowling partner.
In a video posted on BCCI.tv, Mohammed Siraj revealed the chat he had with Bumrah as he was leaving the squad midway. In an emotional question, Siraj asked why he was going and who he would celebrate with when he takes 5 wickets. To this Bumrah replied that Siraj should just go and get 5 wickets.
“Jassi bhai ko bola ki ‘Aap jaa kyun rahe ho, main jab 5 wicket lunga toh kisko hug karunga?’ Toh unhone bola ki, ‘Main hoon idhar hee, tu bas 5 wicket le le.” (I told Jassi bhai, ‘Why are you going, who will I hug when I take five wickets?’ He told me, ‘I’m right here, you go and take 5 wickets),” he said.
Mohammed Siraj Overtakes Jasprit Bumrah
Mohammed Siraj took the important wickets of Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook and Jamie Smith in the England innings.
With his incredible bowling performance, the 31-year-old pacer broke Jasprit Bumrah’s record for the most four-wicket hauls by an Indian in England. He is also the first Asian pacer since Waqar Younis to take six four-wicket hauls in England. Waqar had held the record for 29 years since his sixth four-fer in England in 1996.
