Jasprit Bumrah played an important role in India’s 2-2 Test series draw against England, taking 14 wickets. However, he played just three out of the five games, as his workload needed to be managed, with him coming from a back injury that he suffered late last year in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy vs Australia.
In order to manage his workload once again, he is expected to miss some major matches in the rest of the year. There were reports that he would also miss the upcoming Asia Cup 2025, which is set to be held from September 9-28. However, the Men in Blue might recieve some good news regarding the star fast bowler.
According to a report by PTI, Jasprit Bumrah is all set to play the Asia Cup 2025, thus giving a major boost to Team India. However, in order to manage his workload, he might miss the first Test of the two-match series against West Indies, which will be held from October 2-6 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
When Will Asia Cup 2025 Squad Be Selected?
The India squad for the Asia Cup 2025 will be selected on August 19 or 20, according to a report by PTI. This will depend on when the BCCI Centre of Excellence’s (CoE) Sports Science team sends a medical bulletin for all players, including captain Suryakumar Yadav, who has started batting in the nets in Bengaluru.
The selection committee is not expected to tinker with the top order in the Asia Cup 2025, with Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav, and Hardik Pandya expected to be in the top five. Shubman Gill is also likely to be included in the side as the vice-captain to Suryakumar Yadav. Hence, Axar Patel will likely lose his place as the current deputy in the T20I side.
