New Delhi: The fourth Test match against England would be a do-or-die clash for India after losing the Lord’s Test and going down 1-2 in the series. The Manchester Test would give them an opportunity to draw parity in the series and if they lose the next Test starting from July 23, they lose the series.
For India to survive in the series, they need their best players and Jasprit Bumrah’s workload management, which has been the talk of the town, is a cause of concern for the side. While it has been clearly said that Bumrah would go on to play just three Test matches in the series and with the senior pacer having played already two, there’s just one match left for him out of the remaining two.
Bumrah to feature in Manchester Test
According to RevSportz, the ace Indian pacer will feature in the must-win Test match for India after playing a fine role in the Lord’s Test as well. After featuring in the opening Test match at Leeds, Bumrah sat out of the second Test at Edgbaston due to workload management. The decision comes at a crucial point in the series where the importance of winning the Manchester Test is very high.
In the first Test match at Leeds, Bumrah shined for the side by picking up a fifer while in the Lord’s Test, he picked a fifer in the first innings before claiming two wickets in the second. While the Indian team lost the match, but Bumrah’s bowling pushed the English unit against the wall.
So far in the Anderson-Tendulkar series, Bumrah has had a bowling average of 21.0 claiming 12 wickets in two Tests. Only fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has more wickets (13), but he has played an extra Test as well.
