Jasprit Bumrah bends BCCI to play just 1 match in Asia Cup 2025

In a major boost for the India National Cricket Team, Jasprit Bumrah is set to be fit and ready for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 next month in the UAE. India’s preparations for the Asia Cup 2025 are going on in full swing, with players undergoing fitness tests at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.

Several Indian cricketers, especially those who were not part of the recent five-match Test series in England, have already started their assessments at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. Some have cleared the tests, while others are set to complete theirs in the coming weeks.

Jasprit Bumrah set for Asia Cup 2025 return

Meanwhile, as reported by Revsportz, Jasprit Bumrah is all set to play in the upcoming Asia Cup 2025. However, the Indian cricket team management is expected to keep a close eye on Bumrah’s workload. The journalist claimed that Jasprit Bumrah will play only crucial games in the tournament.

Since the Asia Cup is being held in the T20 format, Jasprit Bumrah will have to bowl only four overs per match, so the pressure on his body will be much less compared to Test cricket, which would make it easier to manage his fitness for the team management.

India will kick off their campaign against the UAE on September 10 in Dubai before their high-voltage clash against Pakistan on September 14 at the same. And then the Men in Blue will face Oman in their third group match on September 19 at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

Jasprit Bumrah is likely to be rested for lighter games

Given the schedule, it is being said that there is a possibility that Bumrah might be rested for the games against UAE and Oman. And if this happens, young Indian fast bowlers like Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana could be given the chance, with Hardik Pandya providing additional support.

The journalist revealed that Bumrah is all but sure to play in the India vs Pakistan match in Dubai, and the premier pacer will be rested for the light games in the upcoming continental tournament. Notably, Bumrah was recently rested for the two Tests on the England tour.

Shreyas Iyer cleared, Hardik Pandya fit, and Suryakumar Yadav trains for Asia Cup 2025

Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer has cleared his fitness test at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru and is ready for Asia Cup selection. The Punjab Kings captain’s spot in the playing XI will depend on team combinations, but he is reportedly set to be part of the 18-member squad.

Hardik Pandya has also been busy at the Centre of Excellence, completing multiple fitness drills and passing them successfully. The star all-rounder is fully fit and expected to play a crucial role for India, not just as a hard-hitting batter and third seamer, but also as a senior player in the dressing room.

On the other hand, India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav, who underwent sports hernia surgery, has been training at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru for the past few days. Suryakumar is working hard to regain his match fitness ahead of the tournament in the UAE.
