Raipur. Jashpur Jamboree organized in Jashpur district of Chhattisgarh has given a new direction to tourism. In this four-day event organized from 6 to 9 November, tourists from all over the country experienced the local culture, beautiful valleys and exciting activities. The event was organized on the initiative of the district administration, which identified Jashpur as the “new hub of rural tourism”.
Rural tourism increased due to home stay in village Kere
During the program, eight home stay facilities were made available for tourists in village Kere. All necessary facilities were provided to the guests coming here. This initiative promoted rural tourism and also provided an opportunity for economic empowerment of local families. Tourists are living here not just as guests but as a part of the family. They are experiencing the local lifestyle, traditional food and customs closely. One tourist said, “The home stay experience is much better than a hotel — the simplicity and intimacy here captivated.”
Home Stay: Experience culture and intimacy
This home stay model of Jashpur connects tourists directly with the local culture, language and cuisine. Staying in a homely environment gives the passengers a family like experience. It is a cheaper, more comfortable and more personalized alternative to hotels. Chhattisgarh is now moving in the new direction of home stay based rural tourism like states like Himachal, Kerala, Sikkim and Assam. The greenery and hills of Jashpur make it more attractive.
Adventure activities became the center of attraction
Rock climbing was a special attraction in Jashpur Jamboree for adventure lovers. Around 120 tourists experienced rock climbing under the supervision of safety experts in Deshdekha area. The tourists were feeling a mixture of thrill and peace amidst the valleys.
Folk culture and music enhanced the color of the festival
On the first day, registered tourists were served food in traditional Chhattisgarhi style Dona-Pattal. In the evening, songs and dances by folk artists created a festive atmosphere. The waves of music and dance in the moonlit night forced everyone to dance.
Star-gazing: amazing experience among the stars
The most memorable highlight of Jashpur Jamboree was the star-gazing session, in which the tourists enjoyed the beauty of the stars under the open sky. Folk songs, dance and moonlight made this moment unforgettable.
The event was successful due to strong administration
Excellent arrangements for accommodation, food, security and cultural programs were made by the district administration. This made Jashpur Jamboree an ideal rural tourism festival.
