Archery Academy will be set up at Sanna Pandarapath in Jashpur district at a cost of Rs 20.53 crore. The agreement was signed between NTPC and the district administration in the presence of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai. This academy will provide world class training to the youth.
Raipur. An important agreement was signed today in the presence of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai at the Chief Minister Camp Office located in Bagicha of Jashpur district. An agreement was signed between the district administration and NTPC for the establishment of Archery Academy at Sanna Pandarapath of Bagicha development block. This project will be operated by NTPC under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) at a cost of Rs 20 crore 53 lakh. Collector Mr. Rohit Vyas and Additional General Manager (Human Resources) of NTPC Mr. Bilash Mohanty were also present on this occasion.
Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai said that there is a big opportunity for sports talent.
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the establishment of Archery Center under CSR by NTPC is a commendable initiative. He said that there is immense potential in archery among the youth of Jashpur and with the opening of this academy, they will get better training and resources. This will give the players of the region an opportunity to showcase their talent at the national and international level.
Participation of Chhattisgarh players will increase in Olympics
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that India has submitted a claim to host the Olympic Games in the year 2036. The aim of the state government is that players from Chhattisgarh should join the national team in maximum numbers and bring glory to the state by winning medals. He said that such training centers will provide great assistance in the identification and preparation of players.
Olympic medal winners will get special prize money
The Chief Minister said that the state government has announced attractive prize money to Olympic medal winners to encourage the players — gold medal winners will be given Rs 3 crore, silver medal winners will be given Rs 2 crore and bronze medal winners will be given Rs 1 crore.
Sports infrastructure and respect are getting a boost in the state
Chief Minister Shri Sai said that the State Sports Investiture Ceremony has been restarted so that talented players can be honoured. Also, new training centers are being opened under ‘Khelo India’ and special attention is being given to the development of sports infrastructure in tribal areas.
The ancient tradition of archery will get a new dimension
The Chief Minister said that India’s connection with archery dates back to ancient times. The heroes of Mahabharata and Ramayana were adept in this genre. Today there is a need that we connect the new generation with this tradition through modern technology and trained coaching.
The academy will have modern facilities
Modern facilities like outdoor archery range, hostel for players, staff quarters, library, medical centre, skill development centre, herbal plantation, nursery for organic farming and training grounds will be developed in this academy to be built on 10.27 acres of land in Sanna Pandarapath.
