Jannik Sinner etched his name in the history books on Friday (September 5) after defeating Felix Auger-Aliassime in the semi-final of the 2025 US Open in four sets (6-1, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4) to seal his place as a fifth consecutive men’s singles Grand Slam final.
Sinner has played all major finals since last year’s US Open and currently holds the men’s singles trophy in three majors, with Roland Garros being the only exception. The Italian has become only the fourth player in the Open era after Rod Laver (1969), Roger Federer (2006, 2007, 2009) and Novak Djokovic (2015, 2021, and 2023).
Jannik Sinner Breaks Roger Federer’s World Record
Among the legendary quartet, Sinner is the youngest player to achieve the feat, breaking a record Federer held for 19 years. The ATP World No.1 is the first player to achieve the remarkable feat before turning 25.

Meanwhile, Sinner has now 27 games in a row on Hard Courts in Grand Slams, which is the joint-second longest streak alongside Novak Djokovic and Ivan Lendl. Federer leads the chart, having won 40 games in a row on the surface in majors from 2005 to 2008.
The last time Sinner lost a Grand Slam match on a hard court was in the 2023 US Open to Stan Wawrinka. Since then, the Italian has won the 2024 and 2025 Australian Opens as well as the 2024 US Open. He will look for a second consecutive US Open crown when he faces arch-rival Carlos Alcaraz in the summit clash on Sunday (September 7).
