Jana Sena MLA Arava Sridhar booked for ‘sexually exploiting’ a woman

Kadapa Police filed a case against Railway Koduru Jana Sena MLA Arava Sridhar for alleged sexual exploitation of a woman, Tv9 Telugu reported.

National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) intervened after allegations of sexual exploitation were made by a woman against the MLA.

Based on the directions of NHRC, Kadapa district SP Shelke Nachiket Vishwanath ordered the registration of an FIR against Arav. He was booked under Sections 318(2), 318(4), 351(2) of BNS and an investigation is underway.

Three-member committee questions Sridhar:

A three-member committee, comprising of party leaders T Ramadevi, T Sivashankar, TC Varun, questioned the MLA on Tuesday, from 12 noon to 7 pm. The members said they would submit a comprehensive report detailing the investigation’s findings to party chief Pawan Kalyan.

Accusations of sexual exploitation:

The woman has alleged that the MLA exploited her for over a year under the guise of marriage and was forced to undergo abortion.

In a selfie video last week, she claimed that the abuse began immediately after he was elected as an MLA in 2024. She said that she was assaulted and that she had gone through five abortions in one year and was threatened, harassed repeatedly. She also alleged that he contacted her husband and pressured him to divorce her.

Arava Sridhar denies allegations:

MLA Arava Sridhar has strongly denied the allegations and claimed that it is false propaganda and that deepfake videos were being circulated to destroy his image.

Speaking to the media after answering the panel questions, the MLA said, “I have presented every evidence that I have before the committee. Whatever decision the committee takes will be binding. We will abide by what our leader Pawan Kalyan decides. Please don’t link a personal matter to the party.”
