Due to delay in censor certificate and legal procedures, the film will not be released before April 30. Earlier there was speculation of a release on 20th February, but the makers have made it clear that the advance booking money will be refunded till the new date is announced. This film is believed to be Vijay’s last movie, from which his fans have high expectations.

According to reports, the film was submitted to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) on 18 December 2025. The examining committee suggested some minor cuts, which were immediately implemented by the makers. On 22 December, the film was recommended for UA certificate due to action and some sensitive scenes. Despite this, after the complaint on January 5, the film was sent to the revising committee. Due to this, producers KVN Productions approached the Madras High Court on 6 January.

Release date postponed, refund process started in Canada

‘Jana Nayagan’ was earlier scheduled to release on January 9. Now the film will not be released before April 30. York Cinemas, the distributors of South Indian films in Canada, has officially started the process of refunding advance ticket bookings. He has also said that members will be given priority booking as soon as the new release date is decided.
