Jamalpur Assembly Election 2025: Jamalpur Vidhan Sabha Seat has always been important in the politics of Bihar. 2010 elections: JDU’s dominance
In 2010, JDU’s Shailesh Kumar had defeated LJP’s Sadhna Devi. Shailesh Kumar got 48,337 votes while Sadhna Devi got 27,195 votes. The victory margin was approximately 21,142 votes. JDU firmly established its hold in this election.
2015 elections: JDU shines again
In the 2015 elections, Shailesh Kumar (JDU) won for the second consecutive time. He defeated Himanshu Kunwar of LJP. Shailesh Kumar got 67,273 votes while Himanshu got 51,797 votes. The victory margin was 15,476 votes. This election was special at that time because JDU broke away from BJP and was in grand alliance with RJD and Congress.
2020 elections: Congress’s historic comeback
In 2020, Congress candidate Ajay Kumar Singh surprised everyone by entering the fray. He defeated JDU’s Shailesh Kumar with 57,196 votes, while Shailesh Kumar got 52,764 votes. The victory margin was only 4,432 votes. This time LJP candidate Durgesh Kumar Singh also got 14,643 votes, making the contest more triangular.
The equation of 2025: who will win?
Now an interesting contest can be seen again in 2025. JDU and LJP are together in NDA, but suspense remains on seat sharing. If this seat goes to JDU’s account, then Shailesh Kumar can contest again, while LJP has also been making a strong claim here. If Ajay Kumar Singh of Congress becomes the candidate again, the contest can become even more exciting.
