Jamal Musiala, a prominent player for Bayern Munich, has disclosed that he is dealing with absence seizures following a recent incident during a match.
During Bayern’s 4-2 victory against Heidenheim, Musiala collapsed shortly after being substituted onto the field. Medical personnel quickly attended to him, and he was able to walk off the pitch independently. This was not the first occurrence; he also collapsed during a friendly against RB Leipzig just days earlier, requiring assistance from emergency responders.
‘I Am Doing Well’: Musiala Reassures Fans
In a heartfelt Instagram post after the match, Musiala, who joined Bayern in 2020, shared that he has been diagnosed with “short, temporary, but very treatable” absence seizures linked to a neurological condition. He expressed gratitude for the support he has received, stating, “First of all: I am doing well! I am incredibly grateful for your messages and support! I understand that many of you are worried. I want to take away those worries today and explain the situation: I have been diagnosed with short, temporary – but very treatable – absence seizures, caused by a neurological disorder. These can lead to incidents such as those that have occurred recently, for example during the match against Leipzig and the match in Heidenheim.”
Musiala further reassured fans, saying, “I know they may look frightening at first glance, but for me they are simply part of my daily life at the moment. I am receiving excellent medical care for this and remain very optimistic.”
Club Director Comments on Situation
After the RB Leipzig match, Bayern’s sporting director Max Eberl commented on Musiala’s condition, stating, “He is doing well now. And that is the most important thing. Beyond that, we still cannot say all that much about it.”
Musiala’s Career at Bayern
Since joining Bayern Munich in 2020, Musiala has achieved significant success, including six Bundesliga titles and a UEFA Champions League trophy. He was also part of Germany’s squad for the FIFA World Cup 2026, where the team faced an unexpected early exit in the round of 32.
