After the thunderous success of Coolie, all eyes are now on Rajinikanth’s next, Jailer 2. A sequel to the 2023 blockbuster, Jailer 2 is shaping up to be an exciting project.
And now, if a latest report is to be believed, a beloved actor from North is set to join Thalaivar in Jailer 2.
The North actor in the know here is Mithun Chakraborty and going by the buzz, cinema lovers are in for a treat with him and Rajinikanth coming together. According to an India Today report, Mithun has been roped in for a full-fledged role, integral to the storyline. He is said to join Rajinikanth for shoot this week itself.
For the unversed, Rajinikanth has made special appearances in two Mithun movies in the past – Bhrastachar in 1989 and Bhagya Devta in 1997.

Jailer, which hit theatres in 2023, was a massive blockbuster, earning over Rs 600 crore worldwide. Rajinikanth played Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, a retired jailer who gets dragged back into action. The sequel, Jailer 2, is currently being shot in Chennai and other parts of India. It is being positioned as a bigger and bolder follow-up to the first installment that won hearts across the globe.
Meanwhile, Rajinikanth is currently enjoying the roaring success of his newest release, Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. Released on August 14, the action entertainer smashed opening day records with Rs 151 crore worldwide. Within just four days, Coolie stormed past Rs 200 crore nett in India and crossed Rs 400 crore globally.
Mithun, on the other hand, is awaiting the release of The Bengal Files.
