New Delhi: Actor Daisy Shah has voiced strong anger and concern after a house in Mumbai’s Bandra East was reportedly set ablaze during an election campaign. The fire allegedly broke out after crackers were burst close to residential buildings, sparking panic in the neighbourhood and drawing attention to what the actor described as a complete lack of civic sense.
Daisy shared details of the frightening incident on Instagram, revealing that it happened late at night while she was walking her dogs near her home. According to the actor, the flames spread quickly, leaving residents stunned and helpless as the situation escalated in front of their eyes. Her video from the spot captured the intensity of the moment and the shock that followed.
Daisy Shah slams reckless election campaigners
In a strongly worded note, Daisy made it clear that her reaction had nothing to do with politics, but everything to do with public safety. “I Have got nothing to do with any political party!!! But when u hire teams to run campaigns for your elections please make sure they have some common sense in them,” she wrote. She also revealed that her building committee had refused permission to campaign door to door, a decision she believes helped prevent further damage.
Calling out the dangerous act, she added, “Bursting crackers next to the buildings is not the way to go about it. This is what happens when people lack civic sense. It ain’t a natural calamity it’s cause by brainless people (sic).” Her words reflected both frustration and fear, especially given how close the fire was to her own residence.
Daisy continued to stress the risks involved in such behaviour, particularly in crowded urban areas like Bandra. In the comments, she wrote, “I sincerely hope that people understand the serious danger of bursting crackers roadside. This is a live example of doing so..seeing this happen right in front of my eyes was scary (sic).” She also highlighted the threat such incidents pose to residents, pets, and property, urging people to think before celebrating irresponsibly.
As of now, there has been no official confirmation about the extent of the damage or any injuries. Authorities have not released a statement regarding the incident mentioned in Daisy’s post.
