This clash has brought to light the struggles faced by insiders and outsiders in the entertainment industry. Dig in to know more.

Gaurav Khanna and Amaal Mallik’s clash on Nepotism

On Bigg Boss 19, Gaurav Khanna and Amaal Mallik had a strong clash over nepotism. Gaurav said the first chance any artist gets is not based on talent alone but on who they know. He told Amaal, “Jahan tera struggle shuru hua hai hum aspire karte hai,” suggesting that his own struggles started where Amaal’s began. Amaal defended himself by saying everyone struggles, no matter their background.

He admitted, “I can’t deny foot in the door moments,” referring to the help he has received because of his family. But Gaurav clarified that getting a “foot in the door” is an easier path. Later, Amaal called himself a “product of reverse nepotism,” hinting that sometimes people outside influence get opportunities because of their background.

In the midst of this, Amaal’s father, Daboo Malik, spoke exclusively to Zoom to clear the air on rumours about favouritism from Salman Khan. Daboo said, “People have to understand that Amaal is not somebody who is doing the maximum number of films. He is not the one who is calling the shots. He is just like any other musician who has done some good work and has been appreciated.” He added, “He doesn’t have the clout that people are thinking. It is the kind of self-thought everybody is developing, and they are putting him and me on a pedestal.”

Daboo further explained, “We are just ordinary musicians who are just being forced to say, ‘Inka toh clout hai. Dosti hai.’ In the last 10 years, we have never done anything with Salman Khan. A long time back, maybe in 2015 or 2016, we did some work with him. After that, we have not done any work for the longest time. Neither have we been supported nor have we been taken care of. There’s nothing like this. It’s just that people are connecting dots.”

This exchange on Bigg Boss 19 highlights how the discussion around nepotism continues to divide opinion inside the entertainment world, showing the different perspectives of insiders and outsiders trying to make their mark.
