Income Tax officials carried out major search operations at twelve different places in Mumbai connected to several film industry personalities. The raids included various properties related to actress Rakul Preet Singh and her father-in-law Vashu Bagnani, who is a producer.
Officials started checking documents and account books early in the morning regarding illegal money transfers. Searches have also been conducted at places of leading production house, Panorama Studios.
The central tax agency launched these search actions after suspecting huge tax evasion and unauthorized fund transfers to foreign countries. Investigators believe money was illegally sent abroad pretending to be production costs for shooting movies and international distribution fees.
Multiple teams from Mumbai Income Tax division arrived together at office spaces and private residences linked with these celebs. Rakul Preet Singh came under scrutiny as she is married to actor-producer Jackky Bhagnani, who is son of Vashu Bhagnani.
During search operations, tax officers checked digital records, bank statement details, and contract papers signed for international film shoots. Neither Rakul Preet Singh nor Vashu Bhagnani released any official statement regarding the ongoing tax raids so far.
Rakul Preet started her career in South and emerged as one of the top actresses during her prime. At present, she is more inclined towards Bollywood. Two years ago, her brother was arrested in a drugs case.
