Israel-US vs Iran war: CBSE cancels all Class 12 Board exams in Middle East

New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Sunday cancelled all Class 12 Board examinations in the Middle East countries. The board had earlier announced the postponement of these exams, amidst the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, due to the ongoing war between US-Israel and Iran.

All Board Exams cancelled: CBSE statement

The CBSE announced that all Class 12 Board Exams scheduled from March 16 till April 10 in the schools of the West Asian region have been cancelled. The Board further said that the examinations scheduled between March 1 to March 9, which were earlier postponed, also stand cancelled.

The CBSE will later notify the mode of declaration of results for thousands of affected candidates in the Middle Eastern countries. A total of 150 CBSE-affiliated schools in Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates have been impacted due to the war in the region and Class 12 students of these schools are unable to give their examination.

Earlier on March 1, the CBSE had issued a circular regarding the CBSE Class 12 Board exams in the Middle East. The circular said that after reviewing the present circumstances and taking into consideration the suggestions of all stakeholders, it is decided that the Board will ” cancel all Class 12 examinations scheduled from March 16 to April 10, 2026, for students in Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.”

On March 15, the Board issued another circular stating that examinations which had been postponed earlier also stand cancelled.

The CBSE said that how the results of these Class 12 students be declared, will be clarified in another circular. This new circular regarding details about the “mode of declaration of results” is expected in due course of time.

The circular has been forwarded to Indian ambassadors to the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and Iran, as well as the Consul General of India in Dubai, said a CBSE official quoted by Hindustan Times.

Originally the CBSE was set to conduct the Class 12 Examinations in West Asian Region, between February 17 to February 28. While some exams were conducted, the CBSE on March 1 announced postponement of the examinations, due to the evolving situation in the region, after Israel and the US launched an attack on Iran.

Earlier the Board had cancelled all examinations for Class 10 students in these countries. This happened on March 5.
