New Delhi: The war between Israel-United States and Iran has left many common people in distress in the Middle East, and among them is an Indian man who has pleaded for her mother who is in ICU in Dubai.
The plea of a couple in Dubai
According to a report by NDTV, around eight years ago, Thilakkumar Jalathu Aniruthraraj and his wife, Shaamini Ramesh, moved to Dubai from Tamil Nadu for a better life. They are reportedly facing a nightmarish situation today as Thilakkumar’s mother is in the ICU for 40 days.
She went to Dubai to visit them and developed a severe bacterial infection while living there. Since then, she has been on ventilator support and the doctors have reportedly said that she will need the ventilator for at least another two months.
The staggering hospital bill has left Thilakkumar helpless as his mother lies in a hospital bed. The report states that the daily bill at the hospital is Rs 3 lakh, excluding scans or specialised treatment, and the total bill has rocketed to Rs 1.25 crore, increasing by Rs 4 lakh every day.
The increasing cost of air ambulance
The couple decided to bring her back to India for treatment, and on March 4, the doctors cleared her to travel on a commercial medical escort flight costing Rs 7 lakh. But as the war in the Middle East showing no sign of stopping, the flight was cancelled. Now, the couple can transfer the woman only via a private air ambulance, whose cost has increased nearly sevenfold to Rs 50 lakh due to the war.
The couple, under immense financial strain, has sought help from the charities in Dubai. However, even if the funds are arranged, it is almost impossible to book a slot, as air ambulances are very hard to find due to the current situation. The couple has now asked for help with folded hands, trying to solve the financial and emotional problem.
