Israel-US attack on Iran: Explosions heard Bahrain, Kuwait And Abu Dhabi as tensions escalate

New Delhi: As tension escalated this morning after the US-Israel joint operation on Iran, Tehran retaliated by simultaneously striking ballistic missiles to Israel, UAE, Bahrain, Qatar. The sound of another explosion was heard in Dubai.

According to reports, blasts were also heard in the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi, a missile was also intercepted by Qatar. Notably, the UAE and US air forces have their bases at Al Dhafra Air Base. The UAE earlier closed its airspace in a precautionary measure.

Bahrain claims missile attack targeted at US Navy’s 5th Fleet headquarters

Earlier on Saturday, Bahrain claimed that a missile attack was targeted at US Navy’s 5th Fleet headquarters in the island kingdom. It, however, did not offer any other information. “The Fifth Fleet’s service centre was subjected to a missile attack. We will provide you with details later,” Bahrain said in a statement.

According to a report published by news agency AFP, the attack earlier on the day seemed to have targeted Iran’s 86-year-old Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in downtown Tehran. It was not immediately clear whether someone was there at the time, but smoke could be seen rising from the country’s capital.

In the meantime, Houthis, the Iranian-backed group in Yemen, pledged to resume attacks on Red Sea shipping routes, sources told the statement. Issuing a statement, Iran added, ““The time has come to defend the homeland and confront the enemy’s military assault.”
