ISIS recruiter using mobile in Central Jail, video goes viral, now Home Minister in action mode

A shocking video has emerged from Bengaluru Central Jail, in which ISIS recruiter and notorious rape-killer was seen using mobile phone and TV. Home Minister said “enough is enough”, sought report from ADGP on security lapse.

New Delhi. A video that has surfaced from Bengaluru Central Jail is creating a stir across Karnataka. In the video, notorious ISIS recruiter Zuhaib Hameed Shakeel Manna and serial rapist-killer Umesh Reddy were seen using mobile phones and TV. After this video surfaced, there has been a stir in the state government and police department. Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara has said that “enough is enough”, and warned authorities of strict action.

How did terrorists get mobile and TV in jail?

The biggest question is that how did mobile phones and TV reach these notorious prisoners in such a high security jail? In the video, ISIS recruiter Manna can be seen talking on the phone, drinking tea and watching TV. On the other hand, serial rapist Umesh Reddy was seen using two Android phones and a keypad mobile in his barrack. According to sources, this would not have been possible without the negligence or connivance of the jail staff. Even before this, many cases of VIP treatment and mobile use have come to light in Bengaluru Central Jail.

“Enough is enough” the minister bursts out in anger!

Home Minister G Parameshwara told the media, “I will not tolerate this nonsense. If mobiles and TVs are being found in jail, then the very meaning of jail has ended. The staff is less, this is not an excuse.” He has sought a report from ADGP B Dayanand and has directed to take strict action against the responsible officials.

Who is ISIS recruiter Manna?

Zuhaib Hameed Shakeel Manna was arrested by NIA on charges of spreading terror and recruiting youth to ISIS. He was allegedly involved in a conspiracy to send youth from India to Syria via Türkiye.

What is the story of serial rapist Umesh Reddy?

Umesh Reddy is named in 18 rape and murder cases. In 2022, the Supreme Court commuted his death sentence to 30 years’ imprisonment after he claimed to be mentally ill. Now the same prisoner was comfortably using phone and TV in jail.

Government’s strictness and investigation started

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that investigation into the matter has been started. The jail department has also ordered to check the authenticity of the video and identify the culprits. Parmeshwar said, “If criminals can use mobile phones and TV in jail, then it has become a club and not a jail.”
