Isha Foundation Free Cremation Service: Funeral expenses will no longer be a cause of concern for poor and BPL (Below Poverty Line) families in Tamil Nadu. Sadhguru’s Isha Foundation has launched free cremation services across the state, which will help families who are unable to cremate their loved ones with dignity due to financial reasons. This initiative is completely public interest and service-based, which aims to give every person a final farewell with dignity.
Municipal Administration Minister started the service
This new service was officially launched by Municipal Administration Minister Thiru KN Nehru in Chennai. During this, Minister KN Nehru said that this step of Isha Foundation will prove to be very useful for the weakest sections of the society and the government will also continuously support such efforts.
More than one lakh cremations have been performed in Isha’s cremation centers.
Isha Foundation is already running cremation services in Tamil Nadu. More than 1 lakh last rites have been performed so far at the centers named Isha Kayantha Sthanam run by them. In these centres, special attention is paid to ensure that every person gets respect, procedures are completed properly and the family does not face any kind of problem. This service is free and completely based on humanitarian approach.
Operation of 17 gas crematoriums and preparation to take up 3 more centers
Isha Foundation currently runs 17 gas-based crematoriums in collaboration with the Government of Tamil Nadu. Now the organization is soon going to take the responsibility of 3 new crematoriums. After this expansion, poor families of more districts will get facilities and relief.
Why is this initiative of Isha Foundation important?
Many poor families in India are not able to perform proper funeral rites due to financial constraints. It becomes difficult to afford wood, facility fees and other arrangements. In such a situation, this initiative of Isha Foundation will reduce the financial burden on these families, will give a final farewell to the deceased with dignity, will strengthen the spirit of service and sympathy in the society and will also support the government structure.
