Russia is studying the level of investment required for the construction of the SU-57 fifth generation fighter aircraft in India amid growing friendship with India.
Su-57 fighter jet: India needs at least 2-3 squadrons of fifth generation fighter aircraft. The main contest for this is the Russian SU-57 American F-35. The purchase of F-35 is difficult than the relations with America at this time. Meanwhile, Russia has started such a work that it is being said whether the fifth generation fighter aircraft SU-57 will be built in India.
How much will be invested for construction of SU-57, Russia is finding out
Russia is detecting the level of investment required for the construction of its SU-57 aircraft in India. Indian public sector unit Hindustan Aeronautics Limited already constructs licenses of SU-30 MKI fighter aircraft of Russian origin in its nashik facility. This facility can be used to make su-57 jets if necessary. Defense sources told ANI that the concerned Russian agencies are studying to determine how much they will have to invest for the construction of aircraft in India.
There are other facilities in India where many other Russian origin equipment is made and 5th generation of fighter aircraft can be used if necessary. This will help reduce costs.
India is demanding S-500 and S-400
India and Russia are getting closer at a time when the US administration is constantly attacking the Government of India and levying Indian businesses. In recent times, several defense projects have been discussed between the Indian and the Russian leadership. The Indian side has demanded air defense systems like S-500 and S-400 along with other equipment. Russia is asking India to buy SU-57 fighter aircraft. India was part of the Russian 5th generation fighter aircraft project till 8–10 years ago, but retreated due to some issues. Sources said that the possibility of reviving the old project at this time cannot be ruled out at this time.

The US administration is also trying to carry forward the F-35 deal with India. India is also working to produce its own 5th generation fighter aircraft project, for which it was approved last year. The first aircraft is likely to be ready for commission by 2035. Its first flight is likely to be done by 2028.
