Veteran Bollywood actress Rekha has been away from the big screen for quite some time, but she is often spotted at many events. Now in a recent interview, Rekha’s friend, designer Manish Malhotra has now revealed that he had thought of casting her in a cameo in his production ‘Gustakh Ishq’ starring Vijay Verma and Fatima Sana Shaikh. However, the makers of the film felt that it was too small a role for Rekha.
What role was Manish Malhotra thinking of offering to Rekha?
When Vijay was asked about the possibility of Rekha returning to the big screen, he said, ‘Actually, Manish wanted to call Rekha ji for a role in Gustakh Ishq. Then Vibhu Puri, the director told him that this was a very small role for him. Taking Vijay’s point further, Vibhu Puri said, ‘This is a small but important role. This character connects Vijay’s character with Naseeruddin Shah Sahab’s character. Manish was constantly insisting that we approach Rekha ji for that role, but then we thought that for half a day’s work, we would not want to call her. She deserves a bigger role. Both Manish and Rekha ji like each other very much.
