Rashmika Mandanna slapped back at trolls for forming judgements about her husband Vijay Deverakonda and their marriage. After the second episode of Koffee With Karan season 9, the internet termed the Arjun Reddy actor ‘toxic’ and analysed his behaviour towards her on the show carefully. Reacting to the memes, criticism and trolling, Mandanna penned an elaborate note, explaining that the internet’s opinions do not validate or affect their relationship. After the note went viral on social media, a section of netizens couldn’t overlook its similarity with a scene from Animal.

In the scene from Animal, Rashmika’s character Geetanjali returns to India after eloping with Ranbir Kapoor’s Rannvijay. His father, Balbir (Anil Kapoor), has been shot, and Rannvijay becomes a killing machine. Geetanjali and Rannvijay have two children. Her parents are not happy with her marriage. Geetanjali defends her husband, saying they did not visit her during her pregnancy, and neither did his parents. She says Rannvijay helped her with the childbirths and despite it being the messiest phase for her, he handled the situation alone.

On the other hand, a part of Rashmika’s statement read, “When I snap a bone, you aren’t there. He is. When my stomach hurts every month, you aren’t there. He is. When I wake up in the middle of the night with anxiety, you aren’t there. He is. And when I feel low, I need advice, I need protection, I need comfort, I need support – you aren’t or weren’t there. He has. To have someone who roots for you, showers you with affection, protects you, watches out for you, celebrates your every win – that is the only love I want – and I have. So please, don’t worry about me or him.”
Animal, similar to Arjun Reddy, faced backlash for its alleged misogynist themes and Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s vision for female characters.

Responding to the backlash, Vijay wrote on Instagram, “My best friend, my wife, my woman. One of the most beautiful parts of my life that I got absolutely right. For all those concerned, we are both gloriously happy. I am blessed. If its me and her against the world – so be it. Big love to all those who celebrate love and the simplicity of living happily. Now, with absolutely no intended kindness or respect, everyone else can go fuck themselves. :)) (sic).”
What happened on Koffee With Karan season 9 episode?
In the second episode of Koffee With Karan season 9, Rashmika said she has been a believer in the institution of marriage and when conversations began at home, she felt it was the right time to tie the knot. However, Vijay asked her to propose to him 100 times. When Karan asked Rashmika whether she did so, the actress confirmed that she adhered to Deverakonda’s request and kept asking him about marriage for a year.
Defending his decision to ask Rashmika to propose marriage 100 times, Vijay said, “Marriage is a really important decision. I am a person who, like, I know that I have put the relationship through every obstacle there is to see it survive. I am that kind of a guy. When she asked me lets get married, for me it was like it cannot be I am suddenly feeling a surge of love for you so I want to be married.”
Rashmika and Vijay dated for almost six years before tying the knot in February this year. After marriage, they were seen together on screen in Ranabaali.
