Is Iran using Chinese weapons in ongoing conflicts in Middle East? What China said

Beijing: Amid reports that some US fighter jets crashed and some navy ships were damaged in the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, questions have been raised over the origins of missiles being used by Tehran.

China has denied reports that it agreed with Iran to sell CM-302 supersonic anti-ship missiles before US and Israeli forces conducted airstrikes on Tehran on Saturday.

Following the airstrike and killing of its supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei, Iran too hit back at number of US and Israeli bases, apart from hitting other targets in the region. Iran has also vowed tough actions amid escalations of conflicts.

Here’s what China said?

“As a responsible major country, China always abides by its international obligations. China opposes ill-intentioned association and the spread of disinformation, and hopes relevant sides will choose the course of action conducive to de-escalating the tense situation,” Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said as per news agency PTI.

Tensions have increased in middle east following a joint operation by Israel and the US on Iran last Sunday. While this led to the killing of Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei and other senior leaders and officials, Iran reciprocated with a series of attacks in the region.

Attack on Iran not for regime change: US

Meanwhile, US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Dan Caine, addressed the media on Monday for the first time since tensions began in the Middle East. He added that the attack on Iran not for regime change.

Calling the attack the most complex operation in history, he added that the US and Israel was hitting at Iranian targets surgically, operationally. “We are not defenders, but are warriors. The US fight to win and doesn’t waste time. This is not an endless war,” he added further.
