A fresh controversy has erupted around after the mother of a young fan scolded by a security guard shared her side of the story in a viral video.
Catherine Harding has now broken her silence, offering a detailed account of what she claims happened during a breakfast encounter at a hotel in São Paulo, raising questions about whether the singer’s earlier clarification tells the full story. Earlier, footballer had taken to Instagram to call out Chappell and her security for making his step-daughter, who is 11-years-old, cry just because the little girl went past the Good Luck Babe singer’s table.
Jorginho Frello’s wife breaks silence
Harding, who is also the partner of footballer Jorginho Frello, maintained that while she cannot definitively confirm whether the security guard was directly employed by Roan, he was ‘with her’ and appeared to be looking after artists. This contradicts Roan’s earlier claim that the individual was not part of her official security team.
Recounting the incident, Harding said she and her 11-year-old daughter were having breakfast at the hotel when they noticed someone resembling Roan sitting in the garden area. Curious and excited, her daughter briefly walked outside to take a look. According to Harding, the child neither approached the singer nor attempted to take photos, but simply looked from a distance and returned to the table.

However, the situation escalated when a man, described as large and intimidating, approached their table and allegedly began reprimanding them in an aggressive tone. Harding claimed the guard accused her daughter of being disrespectful and intrusive, even suggesting that a complaint would be lodged with the hotel. She also alleged that he criticised her parenting, telling her she should “teach her daughter to be better.”
Harding expressed shock over the confrontation, stating that they were paying guests and were in a public space. She argued that her daughter’s actions did not amount to harassment, noting that the child is familiar with public figures and understands boundaries. The incident, she added, left her family deeply uncomfortable and ultimately impacted their plans, as they chose not to attend Roan’s concert. Sadly, the tickets had been a birthday gift for her daughter.
Harding concluded by saying that she does not want to drag the matter any further. The singer added, “I hope that maybe if it wasn’t her that she learns to not allow the people that work for her to treat people like this.”
Chappell Roan’s side of the story
Earlier, Roan had addressed the controversy on social media, firmly denying any involvement. The singer stated that the guard was not part of her personal security and that she neither noticed the mother and child nor instructed anyone to approach them. She also apologised to Harding and her daughter, acknowledging that they did not deserve to feel uncomfortable.
